How Radar Route handles your information.
Last updated: October 11, 2026
Radar Route helps you plan trips with multiple stops, save places and plans, and open driving directions in Apple Maps. Plans and progress are stored on your iPhone. The app has no account system or Tomita Tech server, but it uses Apple's online services for place search, maps, and driving estimates. You can also choose to share a saved plan through another app.
This policy covers the Radar Route iPhone app, published by Theodore Tomita III, doing business as Tomita Tech. The Tomita Tech Privacy Policy covers this website separately.
Radar Route does not send your routes, saved places, contact list, notes, or location to Tomita Tech. It includes no advertising, analytics, or third party crash reporting libraries. You do not need to create an account or sign in.
Information is processed locally to organize plans and track an outing. Some information leaves your device when the app requests Apple Maps services or when you choose to share a plan, as explained below. We may separately receive support correspondence you send us and diagnostics you choose to share through Apple.
The app stores route names, saved plans, outings, selected destinations, recent places, names and icons you choose, stop notes, stop order, visit durations and requirements, planned departure or arrival times, and progress such as arrival and completion times. It also stores preferences such as distance units, default stop duration, and whether to avoid highways or tolls.
For places found through Apple Maps, the app saves a location bookmark using an Apple Place ID or an address you enter or confirm. It retrieves current place details from Apple when needed. Apple-provided place details, road geometry, and driving estimates are held temporarily in memory rather than written into saved plans or outings.
A starting position obtained from your iPhone can be saved with an outing to preserve its original return destination. The app does not save a continuous GPS movement history. Starting a saved plan creates a separate outing with fresh progress and estimates.
Location access is optional. With your permission, Radar Route uses your position to find nearby places, plan from Current Location, and measure progress and arrival during a leg you start. It requests When In Use permission, not Always permission.
During a started leg, location updates can continue in the background, including while Apple Maps is open. iOS displays a location indicator. Arrival tracking stops when you arrive or the leg ends.
If you turn on departure reminders for a started outing, location updates can continue between stops to check your departure place and update guidance for remaining deadlines. This use stops when you turn reminders off, the remaining deadlines end, the outing ends, or the required permissions are turned off. Starting or resuming another outing moves this monitoring to that outing. Saving a plan alone does not start background tracking.
Automatic arrival needs Precise Location. If location access is denied or precise location is unavailable, you can choose a starting address and mark stops yourself. Change access in iPhone Settings under Privacy & Security, Location Services, Radar Route.
Departure reminders are optional and off by default for each new outing. The app asks for notification permission when you turn them on. You can turn reminders off in the outing or change notification permissions in iPhone Settings.
Your reminder settings, confirmed departure place, and records used to prevent repeat reminders stay on your iPhone and are left out of shared plans. iOS stores scheduled notifications until delivery or cancellation. A reminder can identify the relevant stops, the suggested departure time, and when the route was last checked.
Reminders use the latest available route estimates. Guidance updates while the app can run; a scheduled notification does not check traffic again when it appears.
Contacts access is optional and is requested only after you choose Enable Contacts. Radar Route reads accessible contact names and postal addresses so you can choose a destination. It respects limited access, shows only contacts with postal addresses in its own list, and does not read phone numbers, email addresses, birthdays, contact notes, or photos. It does not change your contacts.
Searching the contact list happens on your iPhone. Selecting an address opens a preview and sends that address to Apple Maps to locate it, before you choose Use Address. Checking a corrected address sends the revised address to Apple. The app does not send the contact's name or your full contact list with that lookup.
The contact list and its identifiers are held temporarily in memory, not bulk-imported into the app's database. A destination's name and location reference are retained only when you confirm it and save it in a route or Places. A confirmed contact destination can later be included in a plan you choose to share.
Radar Route uses Apple Maps services to suggest and find places, resolve addresses and saved bookmarks, display maps, find stops along a route, and calculate driving estimates. Requests can include search text as you type, a selected address or Place ID, the map or search area, your location when used as search context, route endpoints, requested departure times, and driving preferences. Progress calculations can request road details from your current position during a started leg.
Opening directions passes the destination and applicable driving preferences to Apple Maps, which handles navigation under its own permissions and settings. Radar Route does not send your stop notes or complete contact list to Apple Maps.
These features need a network connection. Apple processes service requests under the Apple Privacy Policy and Apple Maps & Privacy notice. Tomita Tech does not receive a copy of these requests on a server.
Sharing is optional. Share Saved Plan prepares a file containing the route name, location bookmarks or confirmed addresses, names and icons, stop order, visit durations and requirements, planned departure or arrival times, and notes if Include Stop Notes is enabled. Notes are included by default; you can turn them off before sharing.
The file leaves out outing progress, departure reminder settings, and driving estimates. If Current Location is selected as the start, it also leaves out the device-derived starting position; the recipient uses their own position when starting the plan. Explicit starting and ending places remain part of the shared plan.
The file goes to the person, app, or storage provider you choose in the system share sheet. That service handles it under its own terms. We do not upload it to a Tomita Tech server. Anyone with the file can read its included information; the file is not password protected. Share only information you have permission to disclose. Recipients control their copies, which you cannot revoke by deleting your own plan.
When you open a plan file, Radar Route reads it and may request current place details from Apple while showing the import preview. It adds a separate saved plan to your library only after you choose Save Plan. The original file remains with its file or messaging provider until you delete it there.
Radar Route does not synchronize its route database through CloudKit or a Tomita Tech account. If you enable iCloud Backup or back up your iPhone to a computer, the backup may include local app data and preferences. Restoring a backup may restore them.
Apple and your backup settings control these copies. Tomita Tech cannot access them through Radar Route. Deleting local app data does not delete existing backups. Manage those separately through Apple's settings or your backup software. Files you choose to save to iCloud Drive or another provider follow that provider's storage and syncing settings.
Radar Route has no analytics SDK or independent crash reporting service. If you enable Share with App Developers in iPhone Settings under Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements, Apple may provide us with crash and performance reports. Apple controls their contents and delivery, and you can turn sharing off at any time.
Apple may also provide aggregate App Store sales and usage statistics. These do not give us access to your route library, contacts, or saved places. We use available diagnostics and aggregate information to understand reliability and improve the app.
Radar Route does not track you across apps or websites, read the advertising identifier, sell personal information, or share it for targeted advertising. The app has no advertising or third party software packages.
Apple provides the operating system, App Store, mapping, backup, and optional diagnostic services described here. A sharing or storage service you choose receives the file you send to it. Support messages are handled through our email providers. These services have their own privacy terms; using Radar Route does not give us access to your accounts with them.
Any provider we engage to process personal information on our behalf must provide the same or greater protection as stated in this policy and required by the App Store Review Guidelines, and use the information only for the purpose for which it was provided.
You can change Location and Contacts permissions at any time in iPhone Settings under Privacy & Security. Radar Route's Settings also has an Open iPhone Settings button.
Revoking a permission stops future access covered by that permission. It does not delete destinations or outing information already saved, or copies already shared. Remove those separately as described below.
We do not retain a route or location database on our servers because the app does not send one to us. On your iPhone:
Deleting Radar Route removes its local private storage and settings. Offloading the app keeps its data. Existing backups, exported files, recipients' copies, and information managed by Apple Maps are separate and must be managed through those services.
If you email [email protected] or request support through our website, we receive your contact details and the information you choose to send. We use it to respond, troubleshoot, and keep records needed for support or legal obligations. We do not use support correspondence for advertising.
Include only the route, location, or contact information needed to explain your request. We keep correspondence only as long as needed for those purposes, and you can ask us to delete it. We cannot remotely access or delete the route database on your iPhone.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, receive a copy of, restrict, object to, or delete personal information we hold about you. Contact [email protected] to make a request. We can respond about support information you provided to us; app content stored only on your iPhone remains under your control.
Where applicable, you may also complain to your local data protection authority. For information held independently by Apple or a sharing service, use that provider's privacy controls or contact it directly.
Radar Route is a general purpose route planning utility and is not directed to children under 13. It has no account registration or advertising. If you believe a child has sent personal information to Tomita Tech through support correspondence, contact us so we can address the request and delete the information as appropriate.
Local plans, places, and preferences are stored in the app's private storage and protected by iOS security features. Your device passcode and access settings help protect them. Apple and any sharing or backup provider you choose control the protection of information handled by their services. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
If Radar Route changes in a way that affects how information is handled, we will update this policy and its date, and update the App Store privacy disclosures where needed before releasing that change. If a new use requires permission, we will ask before using information for that purpose.
Questions about Radar Route or this policy go to [email protected] or 845-443-0803.
